What’s happening?

During Covid more and more people have started to work remotely and aren't moving to big city centers like they used to, even as employers are called to go back to offices, so the present data doesn’t represent the near future. Affordability is still drawing remote workers to less dense and cheaper areas. Major metro areas like New York, San Francisco, Chicago and LA saw more people leaving than moving in. Instead, people fled to cities in Florida, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina, which are more affordable.
